Documenting Lynching in Virginia: A Transcription Project at James Madison University

Beginning in 2021, James Madison University students in the Justice Studies program partnered with the Library of Virginia’s Making History project to make primary source materials which document racially motivated lynching in the commonwealth from 1866-1932 more accessible. The materials are now freely available through two digital projects.
