VGS 2025 Fall Virtual Conference Call for Proposals

The Virginia Genealogical Society is seeking proposals from dynamic and engaging speakers for our virtual 2025 Fall Conference. The submission deadline is 31 May 2025.

OVERVIEW

  • Date: Friday-Saturday, 3–4 October
  • Virtual: All sessions will be livestreamed, and video recordings will be available to all registrants for 60 days.
  • Deadline for submissions: 31 May 2025
  • Notification of acceptance: 15 June 2025

 SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

  • You may submit up to four lecture proposals.
  • You will have a total of 60 minutes for each presentation, including a question-and-answer (Q&A) session with the audience.  The lecture should be a minimum of 45 minutes, and the Q&A should be at least 5 minutes.
  • A handout, up to eight pages in length, must be submitted in advance.
  • Although we welcome any genealogy-related topic, preference will be given to topics that involve Virginia and/or rely heavily upon Virginia examples. Topics that are primarily historical in nature are also welcome if they can assist with genealogical research.

 COMPENSATION

  • A $200 honorarium per lecture, plus a $25 bonus will be paid if all deliverables are submitted by the deadline
  • Free conference registration, including access to all video recordings for 60 days.

  • An outline of the presentation – this will be used for evaluation purposes
  • Any additional information you believe would assist in our evaluation
