Mr. Pippenger has undertaken a mammoth task to index all the items in Virginia will books created by a city or county from 1800-1865. This second volume covers the counties of Clarke, Culpeper, Frederick, Greene, Madison, Orange, Page, Rappahannock, Shenandoah, Spotsylvania, and Warren. The cities of Frederickburg and Winchester are also included. In addition to wills, the volume contains an index to other estate documents such as bonds, appraisals, inventories, accounts, guardianships, guardianship accounts, estate divisions, plats, appointments of officials, etc.
The book is divided into geographic locations. Introductory comments are provided at the beginning of each section which give the full title and location of record books or series, Library of Virginia microfilm reel number (if known) and a list of abbreviations used.
There are 51,000 records indexed in this volume! Needless to say, the compiler has provided a very valuable research tool for those folks interested in the above counties in Virginia.
