The Fall Conference of the Virginia Genealogical Society (VGS) is co-sponsored by the Virginia Beach Genealogal Society (VBGS) and will be held at the Virginia Beach Central Library, in Virginia Beach, Virginia, on Friday and Saturday, October 5-6, 2001. The Library is located at 4100 Virginia Beach Boulevard. All activities are held at the Library.
SPEAKERS
Dorothy Boyd-Rush, Ph.D., holds a doctorate degree in history and specializes in Virginia research with an emphasis on the Germanna and Shenandoah Valley Germans. She is the immediate past-president of VGS and regularly contributes reviews to their newsletter, serves as the book review editor for the Association of Professional Genealogists' Quarterly; lectures at national and regional conferences, teaches genealogy, and publishes widely on local history.
Helen Leary, CG, CGL, FASG, FNGS, is a noted author, speaker and professional genealogist. She is immediate past-president of the Board for Certification of Genealogists, and has also served as Trustee of BCG, APG, and president of the North Carolina Genealogical Society. Helen is a Course Coordinator at the Samford University Institute of Genealogy and Historical Research, and has received the NGS Award of Merit, among many other honors.
Chuck Novak, has been doing genealogical research for over 15 years, is VGS President, and a member of NGS, APG and numerous other societies. Chuck has chaired several local seminars and was the On-Site Registration Chair for the 1999 NGS Conference in Richmond.
