The Virginia Genealogical Society, in partner with the Library of Virginia (LVA), is working to
devise a master index of death records in Virginia, for the period 1853-1896. Data is extracted by volunteers from copies of death records
from the state Auditor of Public Accounts, then formatted and uploaded to the Library's website. Additional information
about the project may be found on the LVA site.
Listed below are names of persons who have contacted the Project Coordinator
and are at some stage of making an index of extant death records for one or
multiple Virginia counties or municipalities.
